It’s almost Mother’s Day, Terp fam! (If you forgot, you’re welcome.) You know what that means. This week is all about mom. We’re highlighting some products and activities we think moms of all kinds will love, and you will too! From brunch to bubbly to the smoke breaks between, we’ve got you covered on what to smoke, where to eat, and how to show mom just how much she means to you in a way every mom loves, with weed!
WEEKLY FEATURED PRODUCTS
1. Doobie Labs flower – Trufflez
Every mom deserves flowers on Mother’s Day. Sure, some might prefer roses and carnations, but we know that many moms (whether they admit it to their kids or not) would rather have the kind of flowers that come in three and a half gram jars. We already know. You’re trying to find a place to take mom out for Mother’s Day this year. It might seem a little on-the-nose, but we think you and your mom would really love Mom’s Kitchen and Bar on 31st Ave. here in Astoria. They have amazing drinks, great food, and a vibe that is unmatched. Any mom can find something to enjoy here, and we think yours will be no exception. Our favorite part about Mom’s? Three simple words that keep us coming back for more. ALL. DAY. BRUNCH. You read that right. You can take mom, or your friends, or just yourself to brunch any time of the day at Mom’s. No longer are we bound to the hours of 10am to 3pm for our boozy juices and carb-heavy delicious treats. At Mom’s, those crave-worthy creations we’ve come to know as “brunch only” foods are being served up whenever the kitchen is open! For those with a sweet tooth, we recommend the Bedrock Pancakes with Fruity Pebbles, berries, berry syrup, and whipped cream. If your tooth is craving something a bit more on the savory side, the pancake burrito stuffed with scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, cheddar, and topped with maple syrup is a can’t miss! They also have amazing lunch and dinner options, thick and creamy milkshakes, signature cocktails (and mocktails), and much more. Bring mom to Mom’s and she’ll be thanking you for years to come!
WHAT TO DO IN QUEENS THIS WEEK (5/6 – 5/12)

We get it. Buying flowers for mom seems cliché and overdone. The fact of the matter is a lot of moms really do love getting flowers. It shows them that you care, that you’re thinking about them and that when you do, you think of beautiful things like flowers and all the beautiful things she’s done for you and you’ve done together. The truth is moms are like flowers in a lot of ways. They’re all unique, and beautiful, and bring unmatched joy to our lives. So, this Mother’s Day, show your mom that she’s beautiful inside and out. Get her a bouquet of flowers and a pretty card from Ditmars Flower Shop and she’ll be all smiles!
2. Chess Night – Astoria Beer & Cheese – Ditmars Blvd. (Wed, 5/7 – 6pm)
Wednesday night means Chess Night at Astoria Beer & Cheese! If you like chess, or watching people play chess, or craft beer, or delicious sandwiches and snacks, then you may have just stumbled onto your new favorite thing to do in Astoria. That’s right, Astoria Beer & Cheese, known for their amazing selection of craft beer and delicious food options, also has a weekly chess night! Don’t be a pawn, grab your knights and Queen and head over to vanquish your enemies and find yourself King of chess night. We know you have what it takes!
3. Comedy for Moms and Pet Moms alike – Q.E.D. Astoria (Sun, 5/11)
We all need a good laugh from time to time and that includes moms and dog moms (we’ll explain). This Mother’s Day, Q.E.D. Astoria has two shows we think are worth checking out. First, at 5pm there’s Family Leave, a comedy show designed specifically for parents that can’t get sitters. That’s right, parents can feel free to bring kids that are old enough to hear adult themed humor, as well as those that are too young to understand it. Kids 0 – 24 months old get in free! Also, later in the night there is another show called Not a Mother…’s Day Comedy Show (7pm). This show is for moms of a different variety. Pet moms, to be exact. Not everyone decides that being a parent, specifically a mother, is the right path for them, and those people deserve to laugh and be celebrated too! That’s why this show is dedicated to childless cat moms (who get in for five dollars under general admission) and people who have unfortunately lost their mothers (who get in for ten under general admission!) Bring mom to the early show or come to the late show and celebrate moms in your own special way. Regardless, make this Mother’s Day about laughter! We all need more of that these days.
