Walk into a New York dispensary in 2026 and you will see the same menu card the rest of the country uses, but the language behind it is local. Strain names trade hands at backyard barbecues. Effect descriptors get workshopped on Roosevelt Avenue. Below is the cheat sheet our crew hands to first-timers, written without the marketing gloss.

   What does THC percentage actually tell me?

   THC percentage is how much of the product, by weight, tested as THC. It is one number from the lab, not the whole product: other cannabinoids and terpenes vary from strain to strain, and the menu lists them where the brand reports them. Treat THC% like proof on a bottle. Useful, not the whole story.

   Indica, sativa, hybrid: still useful?

   They are the oldest labels on the menu, and the cards on this page still print them because the store menus do. They describe how a plant is classified. To shop by more than the label, the Terp Finder sorts the live menu by the effect tags and terpene lab panels the menu publishes.

   What is solventless concentrate?

   Solventless concentrate is made without butane, propane or CO2. Rosin is pressed out with heat and pressure, and hash is separated from the plant by sifting or with ice water. It is the slow-fashion of the menu: look for rosin or hash in the product name, and the menu shows each price.

   How do edibles dose differently than flower?

   Edibles work slower than flower. The NY Office of Cannabis Management says edible products can take up to 4 hours before you feel the peak effects. Start with a low dose if you are new to edibles, and give the first one time before taking more.
