OUR FOUNDERS
Alessandro Cottone
known to friends and family as Al, is a first-generation Italian American born in Queens, NY. He learned the value of hard work and dedication from an early age, working in his father’s butcher shop in Glendale, Queens. In 2016, he opened Joe’s Gourmet Meats in Lindenhurst, a gourmet shop and butcher specializing in fine deli foods and catering. Despite the challenges of starting a business in a new community, Al’s dedication and innovative approach, such as being an early adopter of online ordering, led to the success of his business.
Al’s commitment to his community is evident in his work with the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition and in providing meals to local women undergoing cancer treatment. His entrepreneurial spirit and experience in growing a business through various challenges have prepared him for his next venture: Terp Bros.
Jeremy Rivera
was born in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and raised in Ozone Park, Queens. His early life was marked by challenges, leading him to a cycle in and out of prison that lasted over eleven years. However, Jeremy’s resilience and determination led him to break this cycle and transform his life. In 2018, he started working as an on-site safety representative for a property development company, sparking his passion for training people.
Today, he is a general foreman responsible for legal compliance with all OSHA and NYC Department of Buildings regulations at multiple construction sites. Jeremy also owns a non-profit business dedicated to providing disadvantaged or justice-involved candidates with free construction training and job placement services. His journey has instilled in him a deep belief in second chances and the potential for personal growth, values that he brings to his role at Terp Bros.

Terp Bros is a company built on lived experiences and seizing second chances.
Through our unique position in the community, we will actively work to break the stigma surrounding cannabis. We will create an open and inclusive shopping and working environment by hiring knowledgeable, diverse staff and supporting them with education and technology so that they may provide the best service to our clients. We will create pathways to success for our employees trying to achieve personal goals within the legal cannabis industry.
