WEEKLY FEATURED PRODUCT(S)
There are a ton of different vape products out there. Even more brands than products it seems. It can be overwhelming, especially for those looking to switch to vaping or try it out for the first time. There are a lot of questions that our budtenders answer every day, so for them and for those of you that may have the same questions, we’re going to address it here and now. Knowledge is power, after all! First of all, there are countless devices like disposables, carts, and pods. Disposables come loaded and ready to go with a non-detachable battery attached. They’re typically rechargeable with a USBC port somewhere on the device. Carts and pods are different. They are loaded with concentrate, but unlike disposables, they need to be connected to a battery to be used. Alright, now that we’re caught up on devices, let’s talk about the difference between concentrate types.
First up, and most common, is distillate. Distillate is made by taking crude concentrate and distilling it similar to how alcohol is made. This process makes distillate, on average, the strongest form of concentrate from a THC perspective. That also means that the other products of cannabis that we love, like the terpenes and other minor cannabinoids are lost in the extraction process. This means that manufacturers often reintroduce terpenes, often not cannabis derived, back into the final product for flavor.
Next, and arguably better, is live resin. Live resin is made by taking freshly harvested cannabis plants, freezing them, and stripping the THC, minor cannabinoids, and terpenes from the frozen cannabis using butane, then purging the butane back out using a vacuum chamber. The final product is rich in THC and still contains the natural, strain specific terpenes. This means that the effect of live resin is much more true to flower than distillate vapes with reintroduced botanical terps.
Finally, and decidedly the cleanest and truest to flower concentrate on the market, we have live rosin. Rosin is made by taking flower or hash and pressing it under high pressure and low heat to naturally extract the THC and terpenes by gradually raising the starting material to their natural boiling points and pressing them out. This process usually yields significantly less final product, however the final product is as rich in terpenes and cannabinoids including THC as possible, without using a chemical solvent of some kind.
What does all of this mean? It means that if you’re on a budget, and you’re alright with a product that is missing the original plant’s terpenes and cannabinoids, distillate may be for you. However, if you’re looking for something a bit closer to the effect that smoking flower gives you, live resin or rosin may be more up your alley. Finally, if you’re looking for the closest you can get to that classic flower high but in a concentrate that allows you to dab or vape it without missing out on any of the terpenes and cannabinoids hidden in the flower it started from, live rosin is what you’re looking for.
For those looking for a vaporizer that is made with live rosin, Terp Bros is your one stop shop! We have disposables, cartridges, pod systems and more from a wide range of brands in strains for every vape enthusiast. Whether it’s your first rosin vape or you grab one every other day, we have what you’re looking for! Still have more questions about concentrates and vapes? No problem. Head over to Terp Bros today and ask one of our many skilled and well informed budtenders. They would be happy to give you an informative breakdown or answer any specific questions you may have.
WEEKLY RESTAURANT HIGHLIGHT – COMPTON’S
It’s no secret that Compton’s has been serving up sandwiches that make Astoria locals smile for years now. However, this highlight actually isn’t about their delicious sandwiches at all. That is, unless you consider a burrito a sandwich. But that gets into shady territory like hot dogs being sandwiches and to prevent what could possibly turn into a deadly argument, we’ll just say that, at least for newsletter purposes, burritos aren’t sandwiches. Even though they’re usually meat, cheese, and vegetables with sauce inside bread. Sorry, we said we wouldn’t weigh in. Regardless of which side of the aisle you’re on in that debate, it’s safe to say that burritos likely aren’t the first thing you think of when Compton’s comes to mind. We don’t blame you. Their sandwiches are literally worth writing home about. Even if you live alone. Write yourself a letter to remind yourself how lucky you are to live in a neighborhood with an amazing sandwich joint that also sells a next level breakfast burrito. That’s right. The warm, fluffy, cheesy goodness of breakfast burritos has made its way onto the menu at Compton’s and it is most definitely worth trying. We would even say it’s on par with if not better than their numerous sandwich options. Golden, fluffy scrambled eggs. Melty, gooey cheese. Crispy, juicy bacon or sausage, and a slightly spicy aioli to tie it all together. It’s a breakfast burrito worth ordering any time of the day. So, the next time you’re hungry for breakfast and want something new, head to Compton’s for a breakfast burrito you won’t soon forget! Why won’t you forget it? You wrote yourself a letter about it, remember?
