Welcome back, Terp ladies and Terp gentlemen! Summer is coming to an abrupt end, and we’re dangerously close to sweater weather, cooler temps, and the season everyone loves. Of course, we’re talking about Pumpkin Spice Latte season! Did you know that pumpkin spice blend doesn’t actually include any pumpkin flavor at all? In fact, it’s just the combination of warming spices found in a traditional pumpkin pie recipe… wait, hang on. This isn’t a newsletter for fun facts! This is about fire weed and fun stuff going on in Queens. Sorry, we almost forgot what we were about. It won’t happen again, promise! Keep reading for a brand new list of what’s smoking good and what to do when the boredom kicks in this week. We always have you covered and look forward to setting you up with nothing but fun and fire every week! And maybe some pumpkin spice stuff along the way, too. No. We have to be strong. We’re now open at 10am seven days a week, including Sunday! So you can finally score your terps before Sunday service, like the man (or woman) upstairs intended.
WEEKLY FEATURED PRODUCTS
1. Ayrloom Infused Beverage – Cran Apple (Available in 5mg or 10mg)
Sure, September just started. But that doesn’t mean you can’t start completely tailoring your life toward all things fall related starting today! One company that makes it super easy to transition from summer to fall flavors is Ayrloom. Whether it’s their drinks or gummies, even their vapes, they have a wide assortment of flavors for you to choose from. One of their more fall inspired flavors is definitely the Cran Apple juice cocktail. Ayrloom has a bunch of flavors in carbonated, non-carbonated, full sugar, and low sugar options too! There is definitely an Ayrloom drink that will be sure to tingle your taste buds.
2. California Honey Hash Holes – 2 Available Strains – 2.5g
Sometimes, a regular pre roll just doesn’t do it for you. We’ve been there. Every once in a while you need to smoke a Doinkasaurus Rex or a Big Mouth Billy Blunt (not real things, sorry). The standard pre roll is great for what it is, but what if what it is isn’t what it is? I guess that really depends on what your definition of ‘Is’ is. But I digress. California Honey knows all too well the pain of finishing a joint just to feel like you need to roll up another one right away. That’s why they decided to drop their new 2.5g Hash Holes on you like bud bombs from the gods above. These things truly are a blessing! One of the best ways to show some love as a gift for that stoner friend who thinks they can outsmoke anyone (and is probably right). Or, just grab one for yourself on one of your off days and say goodbye to planet Earth for a while. No Bezos rocket or Katy Perry cameo needed!
3. Hudson Cannabis Kief – 5g Jars
Cannabis leads to kief. It’s that powdery substance in the bottom of the bag or the bottom portion of your grinder. This stuff is worth its weight in gold. Honestly, it’s not too far off. Why is this sweet, sticky, powdery substance worth so much? Simple. You can add it to just about anything you’re smoking to boost its potency and make it punch a little harder. Maybe not Tyson in ‘93 hard, but a punch nonetheless. This stuff may take an average smoker weeks or months to save up even just a gram of, but not with Hudson Cannabis! They decided to do the work for you and collected gram after gram of delicious and potent kief. Then, they jarred that stuff up in five gram increments and blessed Terp Bros Astoria with a bunch of them to sell to you beautiful people. It almost brings a tear to our collective eye. We share an eye here. It’s a long story. A shorter story is why you should try the kief from Hudson. Two words. It’s fantastic. Just like Mr. Fox.
WEEKLY RESTAURANT HIGHLIGHT – CORONA PLAZA (MULTIPLE VENDORS)
Alright, we’re going to level with you guys. This week’s ‘restaurant’ highlight isn’t exactly a restaurant at all. It’s more like a collective of food and local craft vendors from all throughout Queens that have banned together to fight the power that is the city of New York in the face of overwhelming adversity. Oh, and it also has some of the tastiest, cheapest food options around with dishes designed to please almost any palette. In 2023, New York City officials swept through the plaza where vendors had been unofficially serving delicious dishes to locals and visitors alike for years, shutting down over 80 vendors doing nothing but trying to support their families by serving their community. That could have been the end of the story. The vendors and the people that they served could have just given up and let the city win. However, there is one thing the city officials that decided to shut the market down forgot to take into consideration. This is New York City and nobody pushes us around.
So, what did the vendors do? They stood up. The people that love them stood up with them. They refused to not be heard and decided that one of the integral parts of their neighborhood and culture would not go down without a fight. This led to the development of the Corona Plaza Vendors Association, a non-profit organization advocating for the rights of local vendors to assemble and sell their goods. In response, the city implemented a new permit mechanism that allows the association (and the vendor members) to operate legally once again. While it still isn’t perfect, the plaza is getting back to what it once was with minor changes still in place. Also still in place is the huge number of delicious food options that await you when you visit! From multicultural cuisine to hand-made artisan goods and more, Corona Plaza market has everything you could need with a fun and inspiring story behind it! Stop by this week to try some amazing food at a great price and show some love to the people who stood up to New York City and won!
WHAT TO DO IN QUEENS THIS WEEK
1. Icon Astoria 8 Year Anniversary Party – Thursday, Sep. 4th – 9pm
Icon Astoria is one of the neighborhood’s longest standing gay bars and arguably the most fun. Don’t tell the others we said that. We love all of them! However, it’s only fitting we shout out Icon this week considering they’re celebrating being open for 8 years! It’s sure to be a great night full of fun, laughs, dancing, and so much more! Hosted by Misty Mountains and Sherry Poppins featuring DJ Trenta! Bring your dancing shoes and your drinking liver, it’s gonna be a long night! As always, drink (and smoke) responsibly! Ubers are our friends! Speaking of friends, bring yours along. It’s a celebration, after all. See you there!

3. Astoria Fig Festival – Open Street 31st Ave, Sunday Sep. 7th, 1pm – 7pm
It’s fig season, baby! And you know what that means. We’re going fig CRAZY here in Astoria! We’re talking fig jam, fig ice cream, fig granite countertops, fig shoes, fig EVERYTHING! Alright, maybe some of those aren’t real, although we would love to wear a pair of fig shoes. Maybe just once. Someday. Until then, we, and you, will have to settle for enjoying figs in more ‘normal’ ways. Society is so lame… You know what isn’t lame, though? FIGS! That is why Astoria Fig Week is so dope! Eight local restaurants are dishing up fig-inspired seasonal dishes to celebrate, too!
Did you know that figs originally made their way to the Astoria neighborhood by Mediterranean immigrants traveling with seeds and saplings all the way from their home countries so they could continue to enjoy the many fig-inspired dishes they knew and loved? Did you also know that Astoria Food Pantry (who we love to shout out) hosted a fig exchange where residents swapped cuttings of fig trees as well as fig dishes in a multi-faceted cultural exchange that embodies one of the many things that makes Astoria so great! Figs are more than just a fruit. They are a symbol of sharing. Sharing culture, sharing food, sharing this little slice of life we happen to all be here for. Figs kind of rule. Come out to Terp Bros Astoria for some pre-fig fuego, then head to Astoria Fig Week festivities from September 1st through the 7th, culminating in the Fig Festival.
