Around Terp Bros

Season of the Terp: A Terp Bros Newsletter

WRITTEN BY: BILL WALLIS

Hello once again, Terp Bros shoppers! It seems like only yesterday we were last going over a list of new products, fun local events, and restaurants to chow down at. Only, it wasn’t yesterday. It was seven whole days ago, and we simply could not let another day pass without hooking you up with a brand new list to set your week up right! So, like every Tuesday, we’re back with another set of fire products, munchies highlights, and fun things to do in your neighborhood! This week is going to be a blast, so buckle up, strap on your weed smoking shoes, and get your notes app thumb ready. You aren’t going to miss a thing. Just like Aerosmith.

WEEKLY FEATURED PRODUCTS

1. Priscilla’s Garden Flower 1/8ths – Assorted Strains

There are a lot of flower connoisseurs out there. For those select few, the lack of new, quality flower brands in the New York market can be kind of a bummer. However, when you find one of the good ones, you want to scoop up as much of it as you can. Priscilla’s Garden is almost guaranteed to be one of those brands after you try it. Their quality is top of the line and their flavors and highs are as good as they get. A definite must try for flavor chasers here in New York. Here at Terp Bros, we’ve got four available strains and they’re all hybrids. The White Devil boasts a deep, sweet flavor from Blueberry with the heady euphoria associated with White Widow and is an early crowd favorite, The Blue Razz has all of the sweet, candy terps. Like, honestly. It’s like it went around to other terpy flower strains, beat them up, and took all their best terps for itself. Flavor chasers rejoice! The Neptune’s Candy blends sweetness with gassy, cheesy notes and a high that will keep you coming back for another puff until the blunt is no more. But you can get more! Finally, the Lemon Cherry Zolato. This one takes the cake and delivers on every front. The smell and taste, 10/10. The high, 10/10. The visual, 10/10. Overall, this one is a true can’t miss and it’s going to move fast so move faster to Terp Bros and snag yourself an eighth (or ten) today!

2. Puff Infused Pre Rolls – Rainbow Cookies with LA Kush Cake Bubble Hash (Hybrid)

Alright, cards on the table, this isn’t the first time we’ve highlighted this specific product in these weekly newsletters. In fact, it will probably continue to make semi-regular appearances here because it’s just that good. Puff hit it out of the park with this one. The flower is cured right and smokes well and the hash that it is absolutely PACKED with burns even and puts off that classic hash aroma. When it comes to potency, these things deliver! They range anywhere between 35 and 40 percent THC depending on batch and are consistently smooth. These are available in a single, full gram option as well as a five pack of half gram joints as well. Hybrid not your thing? Not to worry! Puff also has an indica option with their Gush Mints and a sativa option in Mule Fuel X Acapulco Gold. Both are also available in both single and five pack options.

3. MFNY Live Resin Gummies – Sour Watermelon X Angry Apple (Sativa)

MFNY has been making delicious and potent live resin infused edibles for years now. They focus on taste and effect and this new flavor delivers on both! The sour watermelon flavor will tingle your taste buds as the terpene-rich live resin infusion starts to work its magic! Within an hour, you’ll be smiling, and wondering why you didn’t buy a watermelon at the store before you ate your gummy. Because honestly, a nice cold watermelon wedge would really hit the spot right now. Sorry. It’s possible we ate one before writing this to get the full idea and you can consider this your official suggestion to buy yourself (and pre-cut) a watermelon before taking one of these because we didn’t and we really wish we had. In fact, we need it. Gonna run to the store and grab some and we’ll be right back. In the meantime, head over to Terp Bros and grab yourself a bag of the new sour watermelon X angry apple live resin infused gummies! You won’t be angry that you did!

WEEKLY RESTAURANT HIGHLIGHT – YOUR OWN KITCHEN

Week after week, we research and eat and add notches to our belts in the pursuit of offering you amazing and delicious restaurant recommendations. However, sometimes the budget is a bit tighter than usual or you’re just not up for going out. Maybe you just want to reconnect with what it means to prepare food for yourself or maybe you just don’t have the time to be out all the time or cook three course meals for yourself every day of the week. We get it. We’re people too and it isn’t like we’re going out to eat every single night. So, this week our weekly munchies highlight is as easy to get a reservation for as ever! It’s your own kitchen. Alright, we can already see the DMs. No, we haven’t given up on giving you guys great restaurant recs every week, we just know that from time to time, you have to make a meal out of what’s in your fridge and there is no reason you can’t make a struggle meal taste as good as a dinner out at a restaurant. With a little tweaking, pantry staples can become an impressive and delicious meal for you and/or your loved ones! Here are some of our favorite, easy and impressive at-home dinner ideas to try on your next night in!

1. Kitchen Sink Pasta

Kitchen Sink Pasta has no specific recipe. Instead, it relies heavily on whatever you have on hand at the moment. Some pasta (any shape will do) and some frozen veggies with a homemade (or jarred/canned) sauce and a perfectly prepared protein is enough to please even the most picky of palates. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s a dish that can be made out of just about anything. It lets your cooking creativity shine!

2. Tacos

Once again, this is a dish where you can let your creativity shine. A protein of your choice, some cheese, veggies, and a spicy sauce and you’re in business! From classic ground beef to shredded chicken, even tofu! There are no wrong decisions when making tacos. Also, it just so happens to be Tuesday. Just saying.

3. Steak & Frites (or fries)

We can hear it now. “Steak and frites isn’t easy or cheap.” To that, we say no. Steak does not have to be expensive, it just has to have good marbling and be cooked with knowledge. Lucky for those of you without that knowledge, people who possess it have posted thousands of how-to videos on YouTube. So, head to your butcher or grocery store and grab some meat (stop it) and potatoes. From there, all you need is oil, butter, maybe some herbs and garlic, and you’ve got yourself the makings of a meal fit for a king (or queen). Want to get real fancy with it? Find another YouTube video on how to make a quick pan sauce with the rendered steak fat while it rests. It’s easier than it sounds!

WHAT TO DO IN QUEENS THIS WEEK

1. Day Drinking Day – Queens Room – Every Thursday

Let’s face it, day drinking is a part of NYC culture. It’s time we stopped running from it and started embracing it. Our idea of embracing it is an amazing local bar owned by fantastic people that just so happens to offer half off all wine bottles every Thursday to help the local community get into the holiday spirit! Queens Room offers strong cocktails, delicious food, and contagious smiles on the daily but Thursdays they also offer an unbeatable deal for wine during the fall. Don’t believe us? Head over to Queens Room in Astoria this Thursday and see for yourself. Tell them Terp Bros sent you! Also, since you’ll basically be next door, come say hi!

2. Register to Vote!

Sure, getting registered to vote may not sound as fun as some of our other suggestions in past newsletters. However, it’s important, especially if you love your city and your community, to have your voice heard! That means getting out to vote and in order to do that, you have to register first! It’s super easy to do and figure out and there are tons of easily accessible online resources to help you find out how to register, as well as how and where to vote based on where you live! Voting is important and can help shape the community you live in! If you want a say in some of the small and big parts of the changes that are taking place in your neighborhood and city, make sure you register to vote and make your voice heard!

3. LGBT Social: Halloween Costume & Karaoke Party

It’s that time of year again. When the spooky costumes come out and the fun times begin! What better way to have fun than to go to a costume party with karaoke? We’ll wait… Yeah, exactly. That sounds like more fun than anything we have suggested in weeks! We love Halloween here at Terp Bros and we know that you do too! Luckily, our friends at the Lower Columbia Q-Center have set up an amazing Halloween Party on Monday the 13th where costumes are highly recommended and bringing your singing voice is an absolute must! The Q Center is a non-profit resource center providing resources, outreach, and education to the LGBTQIA+ community. They also throw fun parties that are amazing places to meet people and have a fun time! Grab a fun costume, pick a song or two, and head over to the Q-Center on the 13th for a night of spooky fun and singing!

Unfortunately, we’ve come to that point of the newsletter where we once again have to say goodbye. However, we feel like we have sufficiently hooked you up with plenty of fire, new products available here at Terp Bros, as well as plenty of places (or things) to eat and what to do over the next week if you find yourself with some extra free time. As always, if you have any specific suggestions for restaurants, products, or events happening here in Queens, shoot us a DM on Instagram! We love to hear from you and check out your suggestions! Until next week, stay high and come see us at Terp Bros Astoria and now Ozone Park!
