Around Terp Bros

Sweater Weather (But Not Really): A Terp Bros Newsletter

WRITTEN BY: BILL WALLIS

Happy Tuesday, Terp Bros lovers! It’s been a week since we last dropped a list of what to do, where to eat, and what to smoke here in Queens so we figured it was about time we hit you with another! The summer is slowly fading away as the weather begins to turn and fall creeps its chilly little head into the picture. However, you’re not too late to soak up the last few rays of summer sun! This week, make sure to get outside and enjoy the later sunsets while you still can. Take your shoes off and touch some grass. You’ll be happy you did come two months from now when it’s pouring outside and touching grass doesn’t seem like the simple task that it is now. Don’t wait! Until then, crack open that notes app and get ready for another top-tier list of what to smoke, where to eat when the munchies kick in, and where to kick it when the high wears off (or a new one starts) no judgement!

WEEKLY FEATURED PRODUCTS

1. Mechanic Farms Flower 1/8ths – Assorted Strains

The busy hands over at Mechanic Farms have been tinkering on some new strains and the good news is they aren’t also going to try and get you to change your oil filter. Has the boof you’ve been blowing in the air left your Check Engine light on? Not to worry, these four strains will tune you right up! First stop, a car wash. And you can’t wash without some Zoap! This stuff is fire and the smooth, floral and tropical fruity clouds it produces will leave you feeling that perfectly balanced hybrid high true connoisseurs know and love. While you wait, head to the snack machine for some Juicy Fruit. One hit will have you zooted and the bright, terpy, citrus notes will have you singing! (Also hybrid) Up next, you’ll need to sign for your service work. Uh oh, no pen. Not to worry, reach for your Permanent Marker (indica) and sign away while its candy sweetness and equally pungent heavy gas flavor profile sends you off into a relaxing dreamland. When you wake up, maybe take some time to try their Stank 41, the strongest strain of the four. It has a potent gassy smell and flavor that will undoubtedly fill any room you open the jar in. You can’t go wrong with Mechanic Farms. Also, nothing extra for parts and labor!

2. Back Home Cannabis Pre Rolls – 6 Pack – Assorted Strains

Back Home has been highlighted in our newsletters before, and for good reason. Their dedication to quality and consistency at the price point they’re able to offer is unmatched. Their pre rolls are no exception! Available in six packs, and in a perfectly shaped case, these things are the perfect pack to bring to a fall get together. Everyone will love the classic strains and the fact that each pack comes with six joints so sharing is a breeze! Currently available in Acapulco Gold (sativa), Northern Lights (indica), and White Widow (hybrid), there is literally something for anyone from this brand. Back Home offers amazing flower 1/8ths as well! Head down to Terp Bros Astoria today to grab one (or all three) for your next get together and if any asks, let them know where you got them!

3. Florist Farms Live Resin Vapes – Assorted Strains

Florist Farms does a great job across the board. From their pre rolls to their vapes, to their packaging. You can tell immediately that they take what they do very seriously. This only becomes more apparent when you try one of their products. The people that make this stuff know what they are doing and it shows with every puff. Their vapes in particular are fantastic! A full gram of high-terpene live resin in a modern, sleek device with little to no clogging issues. Also, they put out clouds! Their flavors, strains, and highs are all top of the line and for the price, are one of the better deals in the city for the quality! Currently available here at Terp Bros Astoria in Honey Banana (hybrid), Banana Cream cake X Jealousy (hybrid), Triple Cake (hybrid), and Super Lemon Haze (sativa). No matter which you choose (especially if you choose all four), you’ll be happy you did!

WEEKLY MUNCHIES HIGHLIGHT – PIO PIO JACKSON HEIGHTS

Sure, we understand the appeal of a five star dinner or a Michelin star on the wall as much as anybody. However, we also understand that at the end of the day, sometimes all you really want or need is some good chicken and green sauce. If you don’t know what we mean when we say “green sauce” then you need to run, not walk to Pio Pio immediately for some perfectly roasted, juicy Peruvian chicken with balanced, spicy, delicious green sauce to pair with it. While you’re there, try some of their fantastic sides and starters like the calamari, empanadas, salchipapas, or their classic saffron rice and red beans. Don’t forget the bev, and our recommendation is a delicious Inca Cola to wash it down! Also, they make amazing desserts like flan, tres leches cake, as well as Peruvian classics like Piononos (pastry filled with dulce de leche) and Lucuma (Peruvian fruit ice cream). No matter who you’re with or what you’re craving, Pio Pio in Jackson Heights has something for you! Try them out today and let them know Terp Bros sent you!

WHAT TO DO IN QUEENS THIS WEEK

1. Weekly Drag Brunch at Kween Astoria – Sat & Sun, 1pm & 3:30pm

If you love brunch and drag, let’s be honest, you probably already know all about Kween. However, in case you don’t, it’s definitely worth checking out! It’s weekly on Saturdays and Sundays and there are two time slots available (1pm & 3:30pm) so reservations are a must! They fill up fast, too. It’s a show and a meal and an experience all in one and it’s something you’ll be happy you went to! Grab the girlies and head straight to Kween! Well, make reservations, then wait for the weekend, then head straight to Kween. And don’t forget to stop by Terp Bros Astoria on the way to scoop some pre brunch party favors!

2. Early Pumpkin Picking at Queens County Farm Museum (Open Daily Through Oct)

Nothing says fall like pumpkins. Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin pie, Jack-O-Lanterns, etc. No other gourd could ever capture the heart of our nation for exactly three months a year until peppermint once again reigns supreme in Flavor Town. No, not that Flavor Town. No frosted tips here. However, considering October includes Halloween, it’s probably the top month for pumpkins in prime pumpkin season. If you’re looking for a fun, quick trip right outside the city, why not be the first person on your block to deck out your stoop or yard or fire escape with an array of pumpkins, carved or otherwise? Queens County Farm Museum is open daily on weekdays from 1pm to 4pm and on weekends from 10am to 4pm. They have all kinds of pumpkins. Small ones, big ones, smooth ones, lumpy ones. You name a pumpkin, they got it. Even if you name it Roy. They also have hayrides, as well as goats and sheep you can feed hay to, which is pretty cool. Oh, and they have limited but good food. Apple cider donuts, grilled corn, assorted fair foods, etc. It’s a really good time and a fun excuse to get out of the city without having to travel too far.

3. Fall Festival in Kissena Corridor Park – Flushing – Oct 5, 12pm to 4pm

The annual Fall Festival is returning to Kissena Corridor Park this week (Oct 5) and it’s sure to be a blast as usual. Come out to learn about and experience Asian culture (and cuisine) at what has become one of the most beloved events in Queens for many. Celebrating Asian harvest traditions, the event draws thousands and includes performances by local artists, musicians, and dancers as well as lots of local food vendors to serve the thousands of hungry attendees. If you’ve never been, it’s definitely worth checking out! You’ll certainly have fun and eat good food, but you may also experience a life changing performance that alters how you live and think for the rest of your life. Or, maybe not. Either way, the annual Fall Festival in Flushing is a ton of fun and if you don’t go, you’ll wish you had. Just remember it’s a free community event so there will be kids in attendance. Keep your smoking respectful and have fun!

Well, there you have it, Terp fam. Another week, another fire list of what’s smoking right, what’s tasting good, and what sounds like fun to do over the next week. As always, thanks so much for reading every week and if you go to any of our suggested events or restaurants, make sure you let them know Terp Bros sent you and say hello! As always, if you think of a restaurant we need to try or an event we missed, let us know! We love hearing from you and incorporating your suggestions into the newsletters week after week! Sadly, it is once again that time. Time to say goodbye. Although, we never really have been good at that. So, for today, let’s just say see you next week. Yeah, that feels better. Love you guys. Stay Terpy!
